smugaug2013Today Scott Lively suffered another defeat in his quest to have the Crimes Against Humanity lawsuit brought against him by Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) dismissed. As we reported here on OBLOGDEE, the Federal Court in Springfield ruled against Lively on August 14th to deny his first Motion To Dismiss, which was heard in court January 2013, and referred the case for pretrial scheduling.

A few weeks after the first denial, Lively’s defense team filed an Interlocutory Appeal (an appeal of a ruling made before the trial itself has concluded) trying to once again have the case dismissed.  Lively tried again to re-try the same arguments the court rejected at trial: 1) The Alien Tort Statue does not apply, 2) No substantial grounds proving persecution, and 3) all of Lively’s actions are nothing but free speech.

Last Friday, The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) filed an opposition…

Damn Google. Damn Blogger.

The planet-transgender as we know it may be coming to a end. As a matter of fact unless things change dramatically the planet has crashed, smashed into pieces by Goggles greedy sledge hammer. Damn Google.

So google in a cost cutting move eliminated the old reliable functional blogger dash board and replaced it with a highly dysfunctional ‘interface’. Many bloggers like myself with older computers are now unable to upload pictures and many of the other options we had, with our blogger dash board.

And I lose 300 visitors daily who will eventually become disenchanted with the lack of new articles and the visits, what I have worked so hard for will dwindle off to a few a day.

This is truly a sad day but one I have been forced into facing. leaving the old planet searching for a new…..Boldly blogging where no transsexuals has blogged …to a new planet one free of google bots…..

Original AP article title since revised

Local activist Laura Phillips immediately contacted the AP and the WREG headline was quickly amended to this Transgender Woman Shot & Dragged In Arkansas

However……

AP articles are retransmitted immediately so the damage caused  by the original article was magnified by kait8.com and this Forrest City, Ark., St. Francis County sheriff jointly investigating death of man in drag the lists goes on and on.

TIME.org in cooperation with Transexual Menace are asking readers to help educate as Laura did. The misgendering and mis identifying of Miss Tye could have been avoided had the Little Rock AP Bureau been aware of the problematic nature of their articles.

Lets make sure they don’t do it again.

TIMEblog Calls on CNN to stop airing episodes in which Joy Behar uses ‘tranny’ a pejorative defaming transgender/transsexual people.

Transsexual and transgender people are offended that Joy Behar interviewed two cisgender men about defamatory words that are insulting to a minority they do not belong to.

When Behar questioned her guests if they had ever heard this pejorative used in a positive way both guests were unable to name one incident.

When questioned both gay men revealed there experiences with this word was as a third-party and they took no personal offense to this word.

The fact they are not transgender invalidates their creadiablity.

TIME is dubious about what investment Joy Behar and these two cisgender men have in this pejorative.

TIME decrys this episode and asks it not be shown.

Time calls on Porno Industry to Stop Using Defamfatory Language

Press Release

Kelli Busey
kellibusey@timeblog.org

The free pass for the pornographic industries is over! Notice is served.

The Porno industry has long without consequence promoted transsexual features with pejoratives.

Time demands the Pornographic industry immediately cease using the pejorative “Tranny”.

As Queerty recently pointed out GLAAD does not call out the industry this language defaming transsexual people.

TIME will confront transphobic language without according special privilege to its source.

TIME does not condemn the transsexual performers but we are asking they bring this to the attention of those who are reaping the monetary glory of our demoralization.

Time understands the magnitude of this advocacy. We do not expect immediate changes as the industry is money driven, but with time we will help to install a sense of social responsiblity and awareness in the people who presently promote trans dehumanization with impunity.

Time the new transsexual media watch group will relentlessly pursue the industry executives, educating them to the harmful effects the this language has on the transsexual community.

Trans group forms to combat defamation and it’s about TIME!

(For group specifics and mission statement click the ‘about us’ page for instructions to become a contributor)

Invitation to form and participate with TIMEblog.org A Trans identified and led group of advocate journalists from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and United States of American.

I am writing you because of our shared passion that transgender people be treated with dignity.

How many times have we been assailed by gay media with the word ‘tranny’ being used as a pejorative?

How any times have we responded individually hoping for a larger transender community response to back us up on a offenders blog?

How many times have we as a community been gang raped by gay media in articles purportedly desiring goodwill dialogue with trans people that in realty were thinly disguised efforts crafted to antagonize and dehumanize us?

How many times have you felt as I have, powerless, when responding on my blog knowing good and well I was only reaching 1/10th of the audience as the offending gay blog?

How many times have we watched mainstream media pickup on gay media’s predatory practices, parrot the offending gay media’s offensive behaviour therby gaining attention exponentially.

How many times have you shared my sense of disempowerment when the gay organization GLAAD, as admirable an ally as they are, is the only organization to speak for transgender people?

How often have we been frustrated by GLAAD’s unwillingness to confront Gay people and groups who are presently allowed to defame trans people with impunity?

We will confront gay media without hesitation with every tool avaliable.

I have conducted a survey of trans identified people on TransAction ConVergence. The results http://bit.ly/gLVkl4 of this survey provides us with a mandate to speak on behalf of the trans community.

One tenet of TIME will be our vocal objection to ‘tranny’ being used in Cisgender media no matter whether gay or hetero.

We will voice condemnation when religious groups denigrate us. Their misrepresentation and defamation of trans people in religious media is a major factor in for our present position in society.

There will be occasions when issuance of statements and blog posts will be insufficient to bring about change. In these instances we will initiate email campaigns, letters to the editor of local papers and phone calls.

If all else fails, protests are the last option and will be done if possiable.

The group will be called ‘transsexual’ because the survey indicated that moniker is most favored for people who identify under the trans umbrella.

We will further identify ourselves as exactly how we identify in the ‘About page’. I would like to include a contributors (thats you) page. You will be given the option to upload a picture and be as forthcoming as possiable about yourself and where you live. Remember, visibility is one our greatest tools in creating a sense of familiarity with and acceptance from cisgender people.

Also, posting detailed information about yourself will help to silence our detractors of which there will undoubtedly be many and be forewarned, you may be targeted with misinformation and personal attacks, some even comming from own community!

As a organization, banding together transgender bloggers and activists and armed with factual evidence of transgender sensitivities we will dismantle gay misogony and hetero transphobia in media. As never before we will have a voice.

I see a organization run by individual bloggers and activists belonging to Timeblog.org each acting autonomously, Each possessing her/his unique abilities and passions cross posting from their own blogs on Time. Each contributor will be empowered with equal abilities to issue statements on behalf of TIME when necessary, condeming or commending.

A core group of officers led by myself will reserve the authority to censure and/or remove contributors who do not understand the purpose of or abuse TIME.

Our power united we will easily overcome our singular adversaries. Together we can do this.

Hoping you will join this endeavour. We are nothing without you.

We are unstoppable with you.

Love,

kelli Anne Busey
